Welcome to Special Kids Crusade!

Special Kids Crusade is a parent-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of children with disabilities and their families.

Special Kids Crusade understands the challenges and achievements of children with differing abilities. We are working hard to develop quality regional resources, raise awareness in the community, and provide much-needed support for these special children and their families.

There are over 7,000 children, ages birth to 22, living with disabilities in Monterey County!

Parent Empowerment Workshop: The Do's and Don'ts of Raising a Child with Special Needs

Invite grandparents, friends, neighbors, teachers... This is the one workshop of the year you won't want to miss! Enjoy a panel presentation of amazing young adults with their parents from our community. Enjoy a delicious dinner, win door prizes and network with other families.

February "Mom's Night Out"

Mom's Night Out is a time to come together with other mothers of children with disabilities, to let loose & have a little fun. This month, we're gathering at Elli's Great American Restaurant for a non-hosted dinner. RSVPs are encouraged so we are sure to have plenty of space reserved for all!

Parent Empowerment Workshop: Structuring the Day for a Sensory Seeking Child

Workshop presenter Natalie Sanders, OTL/L, is the owner of Therasens Pediatric Therapy and Little One’s Classes serving children of all needs on the Central Coast. Natalie has been an occupational therapist for over ten years and has a variety of experience working with children in hospitals, schools and private settings with a range of disabilities including developmental, physical and sensorimotor needs.

Parent Empowerment Workshop: Discipline and the Special Needs Child

Workshop presenter Emily Rubin, MS, CCC-SLP is the director of Communication Crossroads, a private practice in Carmel, California. She is a speech-language pathologist specializing in Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related social learning disabilities. As an adjunct faculty member and lecturer at Yale University, she has served as a member of their Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic. She has also served as an instructor for the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department of Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts where she has developed courses to prepare graduate level students for addressing the needs of children with autism and their families. Her publications have focused on early identification of autism, contemporary intervention models, and programming guidelines for high functioning autism and Asperger's Syndrome.
